Will we land earlier than expected in 2021 with an effective corona vaccine? Farmareus Johnson & Johnson can start the first tests on humans in September.
“We know the key that this virus uses.”
In the race for a vaccine, pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson brings good news. Thanks to the investment of a billion dollars from BARDA, part of the United States Department of Health, the parent company of the Belgian Janssen Pharmaceutica can start its research.
The company has selected one vaccine from a group of 12 potential candidate vaccines that is most likely to be successful.
That vaccine and two others that are being prepared as a backup will already be tested on humans in September.
The beginning of next year could then market an affordable vaccine.
However, the company will not wait to produce the vaccine until all tests have been completed because it would take too long before enough vaccines are available.
