US President Donald Trump and President-elect Joe Biden separately attended Veterans Day events on Wednesday. It seemed a stark illustration of the gap between incoming and outgoing governments.
Trump was laying a wreath in rainy weather at Arlington National Cemetery across the Potomac River from Washington.
He made no public comments. In a written statement released earlier today, he said, “We enjoy the privileges of peace, prosperity and freedom through our veterans, and we forever owe them immeasurably.”
Biden attended an event at a memorial to the Korean War in Philadelphia. He also released a statement highlighting thanks to the armed forces.
Trump has so far refused to admit defeat in the Nov. 3 election, won by Biden. He also declined to cooperate in the January transition to a new government.
