The North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is back in his home country. North Korean state media report Saturday that the dictator’s armoured train has arrived, South Korean media reports. It is unclear exactly when that happened.
When leaving the train, Kim was “enthusiastically welcomed” by the crowd, according to the KCNA, the mouthpiece of his isolated regime.
His state news agency reports that Kim has worked abroad for “peace and security” on the Korean peninsula and region.
Kim left Friday in the Russian city of Vladivostok, one day after his first summit with President Vladimir Putin.
It was the first time that the North Korean leader went abroad since he met US President Donald Trump in Vietnam in February. The summit on denuclearisation did not lead to a breakthrough.
