The Taliban have called on US President-elect Joe Biden to abide by agreements on the withdrawal of US troops.
The insurgents call the February deal with the US “the most reasonable and effective way to end the conflict between our countries.”
The US has been fighting the radical Islamic Taliban in Afghanistan for about two decades. Current President Donald Trump wants to end that lingering conflict.
The deal struck earlier this year provides for the departure of US military personnel in exchange for security guarantees from the Taliban.
Those agreements have not yet put an end to the violence in Afghanistan.
The Taliban are also yet to negotiate a separate deal with the Afghan government on the country’s political future. The insurgents, meanwhile, continue to attack.
