The South African Zozibini Tunzi was named Miss Universe last night. “One of the most important things we have to teach young girls today is leadership,” said Tunzi.
“It is something that young girls and women lacked for a long time, not because we want to, but because society determines how women should be labelled.”
“I think we are one of the most powerful beings on earth and we should have every chance. We must teach these young girls to claim their place. There is nothing so important if you claim your place in society,” Miss said. South Africa.
“I grew up in a world where a woman like me, with my skin type and my hair type, could never be considered beautiful,” said Tunzi. “I think it’s time for that to change today.”
Tunzi took on 90 other candidates and succeeded Catriona Gray from the Philippines. For Belgium, Angeline Flor Pua (24) from Antwerp, who made it to Miss Belgium in 2018, did not make it to the podium.
