British Prime Minister Boris Johnson hopes that the schools can open again from March 8. It is not feasible to do that earlier, Johnson said in parliament on Wednesday.
A final decision has not yet been taken. The British authorities first want to check how smoothly the vaccination against the coronavirus is going.
The prime minister said he is confident that the vaccines will be delivered faster and faster. He is not afraid of possible shortages.
England has been in a lockdown for the third time since the beginning of January.
Since then, the primary and secondary schools have been closed. This is except for vulnerable children and children whose parents have essential professions.
