Russia also wants to supply its corona vaccine Sputnik V to countries in the European Union.
This organization evaluates all vaccines and medicines, after which the European Commission decides whether they are authorized. Russia expects a judgment in February. The EMA has not yet confirmed the application.
The EMA has already assessed two corona vaccines. These are the resources of Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna. They received a positive judgment and were then admitted. The inspectors are currently looking at the vaccine from AstraZeneca and Oxford University.
They are also taking part in the research into the vaccine of Janssen from Leiden so that it can be assessed faster than usual.
The Sputnik V vaccine has already been approved in Argentina, Belarus and Serbia, among others. Brazil is currently considering approval of the drug.
