Roger Stone Former Adviser to President Trump Gets 40 Months in Prison

The former adviser to Donald Trump has been sentenced to more than three years in prison. A US court has decided that.

Roger Stone was found guilty in November of seven different charges, including lying to the US Congress. The case caused a great deal of stir, among other things through the intervention of the American Justice Minister and comments from President Trump.

A federal district court in the US capital Washington Thursday sentenced 67-year-old Roger Stone, a confidant and friend of US President Donald Trump, to three years and four months of a federal cell. He is also fined $ 20,000 and 250 hours of community service.

Stone lied to the US Congress under oath about his contact with the WikiLeaks site during the 2016 US presidential election. That site had leaked e-mails from Hillary Clinton.

The allegations came from the Mueller investigation, which investigated whether Russia was involved in the elections. Stone was one of Trump’s advisers at that time.

Trump raged against the prosecutors in the case last week. “Completely unfair,” he called the seven to nine years in prison they demanded against Stone. It was striking that the Ministry of Justice set aside the criminal demand of its own prosecutors hours later and started arguing for less.

The prosecutors themselves did not agree with that, and they all quit. At the ministry, they deny that Trump had anything to do with the sentence reduction. “The decision had already been made for Trump’s tweet,” it sounded.
