The US state of Missouri sued the government of China on Tuesday for its actions following the coronavirus outbreak in the city of Wuhan.
It left so much to be desired that it led to enormous economic damage.
Missouri’s Attorney General Eric Schmitt filed a civil suit with the Federal Court of Justice, including for alleged negligence.
His complaint is that the state and its residents may have lost tens of billions of dollars as a result. Missouri wants financial compensation for that.
“The Chinese government has lied to the world about the danger and contagious nature of COVID-19, silenced whistleblowers and done little to stop the spread of the virus.
It should be held accountable for those actions,” said the Republican. Schmitt.
