The corona situation is also deteriorating in Italy, which is why the government extends and tightens all kinds of restrictions.

The curfew between 10 pm and 5 am will remain in effect until March 5, while ski resorts must remain closed until at least February 15.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, whose government lost the majority in parliament this week, signed decrees to this effect on Friday. The ban on moving to another region without a valid reason is extended until mid-February.

The number of regions in lockdown may be expanded from Sunday.

Gyms and swimming pools will remain closed and takeaway food or drink alcohol in a bar are only allowed until 6 pm. Many restaurateurs have announced in protest that they will open on Friday evening. Some of the students can go back to school from Monday.

In Italy, one of the most affected countries in Europe, between 400 and 600 people die from Covid-19 every day. The number of new infections is much lower than in November.

The millionth vaccine shot was taken on Friday. The population also receives economic support. Ministers agreed to a support package of 32 billion euros for employees, companies and the healthcare sector. Extra money must be borrowed for this.
