Paris and other major French cities where maximum surveillance is required due to the ever-increasing numbers of corona infections are given a curfew.
According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the curfew will take effect on Saturday and will apply daily from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
France declares a public health emergency. It will take effect on Saturday and is expected to last until next summer, the French president said.
The French authorities can therefore take all kinds of strict measures, such as curfews in hard-hit areas or lockdowns in certain places.
In order to stem the second wave of corona infections, there is a further restriction on the number of people who are allowed to gather in houses.
The more stringent measures come as the number of corona patients in French hospitals has risen to over 9,100 for the first time since June 25.
