All German residents who were vaccinated against corona six months ago can receive an extra shot.
The so-called booster will first be generally available for the elderly, healthcare staff and people with a weak immune system. After that, the rest can be vaccinated again.
The German Health Minister, Jens Spahn, and the doctors’ organizations are on the same page after heated discussions about who should receive a booster shot, German media report. For example, there was a proposal to only give an extra vaccine to the elderly over 70.
So far, more than 2.3 million people in Germany have had a booster administered.
